it has started!!

I've managed to refrain from pulling out the cradle and the 0000 & 000 size baby clothes yet.  However, little things are starting to pile up here and there.  Is this an early form of nesting?  =)

And as you can see I am on quite the blanket making kick lately. (I've made all 4 of the blankets you can see in the top photo.)  Two more yummy flannel blankies for the baby.  I also made two exactly like this for another special little girl who will make her debut later this year.  Hopefully her mama doesn't mind the pink girly flowery explosion.

Ready for church

mama-made shorts (ages ago) and one of his shirts bought with Christmas money from Uncle Todd and Aunt Debbie and family.

JCPenny dress with Walmart shrug and new sandals from Grandma (bought on awesome sale)

made her dress this week too.

 Grammy-made dress (last year?)

not a great pic of her in the dress but she looked so cute in it today.

my version of the dress

very happy with how the dress turned out.  So cute.  Every bit as cute as the inspiration dress and over $200 cheaper.  =D

dreaming/planning

it all started with seeing this dress. It's Gucci.  From Saks Fifth Avenue.  It's also $220.  A little out of my price range.  =)  But so cute.

Then I remembered that I have this pattern by thatdarnkat.
And then I saw this dress.  I love the contrast stitching.  It would be so cute on the round collar and around the hem.

And I thought I could just put a bow like this on the side of the collar. Similar but not the same as the inspiration dress.

or sort of like this bow.  This is a very similar pattern.

What do you think??  I cut the pattern out today.  (along with 5 other patterns)  If I have time maybe I'll get the fabric cut later this week.

cock a doodle doo

I can't find pictures or a post where I showed you that we got two new chickens back in January.  The girls across the street were raising them after a school project but they got too big for them.  So they gave them to us.  There was a beautiful black one and then this red one.  They started out smaller (obviously) then the five chooks we had already but quickly grew bigger and taller.  Recently we noticed that they were a lot more aggressive than our chooks and the red one scratched Naomi's face a couple times.  So we had decided to get rid of them.  Within minutes of calling people and asking if they wanted them and posting it on Facebook the big black chicken started crowing!!!  UH OH!!  We're not allowed roosters and we don't want them either.  We got rid of that one the next day but still have the red chicken.  however, Josh googled how to tell the difference between hens and roosters (this one hasn't done any crowing) and we're pretty sure this red one is a rooster too.  ugghhh... Oh well, we'll be back to a much more manageable 5 chooks.  And these are all nice ones too.  We've had some issues with them laying but are up to a pretty consistent 3 eggs a day at the moment.  We've never consistently had 5 eggs from them but it's hard to tell which one isn't doing her job.
