I can't find pictures or a post where I showed you that we got two new chickens back in January. The girls across the street were raising them after a school project but they got too big for them. So they gave them to us. There was a beautiful black one and then this red one. They started out smaller (obviously) then the five chooks we had already but quickly grew bigger and taller. Recently we noticed that they were a lot more aggressive than our chooks and the red one scratched Naomi's face a couple times. So we had decided to get rid of them. Within minutes of calling people and asking if they wanted them and posting it on Facebook the big black chicken started crowing!!! UH OH!! We're not allowed roosters and we don't want them either. We got rid of that one the next day but still have the red chicken. however, Josh googled how to tell the difference between hens and roosters (this one hasn't done any crowing) and we're pretty sure this red one is a rooster too. ugghhh... Oh well, we'll be back to a much more manageable 5 chooks. And these are all nice ones too. We've had some issues with them laying but are up to a pretty consistent 3 eggs a day at the moment. We've never consistently had 5 eggs from them but it's hard to tell which one isn't doing her job.
